(Quick Take) Cello & Laptop- Transient Accidents
Cello & Laptop are the electro-acoustic duo of musician Sara Galán and sound designer/Audiotalaia netlabel curator Edu Comelles. Transient Accidents, off Bristol, England’s Facture, is their highly satisfying fourth release of minimalist ambient constructions. Such an unaffected name seems fitting for the organically-unfurling pace of the grainy soundscapes Comelles helps shape out of Galán’s droney cello and piano arrangements. Step by cautious step, the two artists spark earth tones into brilliant meshes of reds and oranges, with glitchy flickers melding into soft sighs on the way back down. For its pastoral calm and assured movements towards enveloping emotionalism, this one is a keeper to be sure.
