(New Album Review) The Chewers- Dead Dads

The West Virginia-raised, Nashville underground-terrorizing Chewers (Travis Caffrey and Michael Sadler) have returned with a vengeance. If you’re not familiar with these guys through their fine album Chuckle Change and Also, imagine a backwoods-raised version of The Residents and the deadpan of John Lurie or Tom Waits thrown into a blender and you’ll have the right idea of what these two are up to. Their new album Dead Dads sees their vicious sense of humor buoyed by a more aggressive punk-rock sound than their last outing. Highly recommended.
